Richmond CASA is unique in its advocacy efforts. Volunteers are appointed by juvenile court judges who rely on them to act as their “eyes and ears” to ensure that the best interest of the child is achieved. Since it was established, Richmond CASA has advocated for over 10,500 children in the City of Richmond. Our program is the third largest of Virginia’s 27 CASA programs.
The commitment for a Richmond CASA volunteer is intense, but the impact on a child’s life is significant.
In 2008, our volunteers contributed 3177 hours, saving the City of Richmond over $60,000. CASA volunteers provided advocacy for 501 children to be placed in safe, permanent homes. Ten hours a month can mean a lifetime of safety and security for a child. |
